It's a busy lagoon when the "Carolina" rounds the bend along with the Cherokee war canoes. The war canoes were located in what was known as the "Indian Thicket" area. The path of the canoes took you directly under the low hanging beams of the Goldrusher coaster. Indian Thicket was the first themed area of Carowinds to go, lasting only 2 seasons. It was not listed in the 1975 park brochure and it simply became part of the Country Crossroads area. The lagoon area for the war canoes was eventually filled in with dirt in 2003.
