The 1973 view of Pirate Island shows the Flying Dutchman ride and a portion of the Goldrusher. You can clearly see there is no sign of what use to be on Pirate Island in the right photo. All the original ponds are long gone and the Boomerang Bay waterpark now resides beyond the old park boundries. Three rides have since replaced the area where the Flying Dutchman was. In 1985, Blackbeard's Revenge opened on the site of the Dutchman, and then in 2000, the Flying Super Saturator (interactive water coaster) was placed on the site of Blackbeard's Revenge.
The Saturator was dismantled in 2008 to make room for the Carolina Cobra, a Boomerang coaster (seen above) brought in from the now defunct Geauga Lake Amusement Park in Ohio.
